Crazy Horse meets Mt Rushmore SD

Dear Reader, today's blog takes us from the extraordinary sculpting of a mountain that is Crazy Horse and then on to Mount Rushmore.  Finally and just for the geologists out there, a picture of some rocks as promised.

Almost everyone will recognise the iconic images of Mount Rushmore.  It was here we had our ceremony of remembrance we were joined by local cyclist club and serving members of the forces.

Crazy Horse first, in 1955 the visionary Korczak Ziolkowski in conjunction with Lakota elder Henry Standing Bear set out to produce an extraordinary sculpting this so far has meant the removal of 6,000,000 tons of granite.  But let us have some photographs.

From here we went to Mount Rushmore where we were joined by other cyclists and we were able to complete our remembrance ceremony.

As if on cue a storm rolled through and thunder gave a dramatic back drop to the ceremony.

And another.....

Lots of media coverage which we were able to watch later in the day at Jim's home...

and celebrate....with hands!

So thanks Jim great hospitality and a very special thanks to a great cook and host Glena.

And finally lets not forget the geologists, here are some rocks.
