From the Fort

We arrived in Fort Leonard Wood yesterday and today we leave, but in style.  In this trip that means with a bunch of very keen cyclists.  The members of the Bicycle Club in Fort Leonard Wood were keen to cycle with Tom and Alvon, and Bob had put together a great ride for the day.

And, well, here they are at the start:

Cars, or more accurately the big pick-up truck has always and continues to be a must have for many American families and individuals.  Very comfortable, very powerful and very good at carrying bikes around.

But they are B I G

The ride was about 45 miles through some great country and on some quiet, good roads.

So what did we see?

Well a Coke sign, hand pained from some years ago on the side of a dilapidated old fuel and coffee stop:

We saw a farmer tedding hay on an old John Deer, he saw me 'shooting' him and came over, he collects old tractors like the 1955 model.  Still working.

And the farmer....

It was by his barn we were lucky enough to see a cyclist do a hand stand....Yes folks Alvon does another show stopper...

The back roads have some great sights, for example:

Nikon make a great fisheye!

At the conclusion of the ride, by a small town called Salem, we had lunch but proceeded by the reading of names by all participants in the ride. Thanks guys.

and the well, hardly the ultimate tests but certainly a test, lunch for 10. So the tomato, brown pasta and herb dinner came to fore. well received and no returns. Blimey!

and finally a big thanks you to Tom... A great ride Tom and greatly appreciated.

and until the next time...
