Goodbye Kansas hello trooper

Kansas, famous for what, well I guess everyone has seen or knows the Wizard of Oz, so will now that the State has tornadoes, not hurricanes. They need the sea it seems.

But Dear Reader I can now tell you that they also have different layers of police, some of these I have met, Sheriffs, Marshals, Deputies and for those on the road the Highway Patrol, State Troopers.

Why, I can almost hear you ask this sudden interest in this.

Well if you park badly on a main road, and if you are deeply in conversation with a passing farmer who really wants to pass the time of the day, you may not see the trooper come toward the vehicles, you may not see those really effective array of lights on the top of the top of the best that Detroit provides, you may not see his great head gear.

You will realise what sensible people they are, how helpful in making good suggestions as to where to park, a place which is also a good place to take photographs of  the trooper for the blog and prosperity.

So many thanks...

And the reason to stop, well to take a shot of tarmac with tar and how straight that road is...stupid boy!

Kansas, rolling roads that go North to South or East to West.  That's another thing that is different between the Brits and the Americans, when you ask directions Americans say something like..."Go East on 97 for 6 miles than South on 47 for four miles...." or something like that, it could be Swahili to most English, we would say, "Take the Chester Road for 6 miles then turn left on the A47 toward Liverpool...." or whatever.   Two people divided by a common language etc.

Now lunch..We had a great lunch in the KMBBQ, no police involved but to use the washroom (toilet) you are able to see the barbed wire wall decoration and a picture of boots.

Our thanks to Vernon, (purple shirt) for lunch, it was very good and very good Vernon to hear of your experiences in the Korean War.

After lunch time for a group snap..

For the eagle eyed you will see a fine beard on the face of Tom, Alvon has one as well but his is not quite as, well, white as Tom's, so a close up of a topless Tom...

So its goodbye Kansas, Missouri next, here we will meet Deputies and Marshalls.
